Please excuse the comic sans...

(Typed in the notes section of my iPhone.)

Another morning without an embassy email. My heart just sinks. In previous months, I didn't wake up and think, "Oooh, I'd better check email to see if I have any news from the embassy!" Now, with this endless wait for the embassy's investigation, the first thing I do when I open my eyes is jump on my iPhone, hoping that I've heard from someone in Kinshasa. It's especially bad after a weekend, as the embassy closes at noon on Fridays and I have to wait so long...

Weekends are bad for other reasons.  On weekends, I don't have teaching or my class to distract me. My mind begins to wander, I begin reaching out to other adoptive parents for info (and because misery loves company). The friends I've made in the online Congo adoption world are the only ones who truly understand how excruciating this wait has become.

I finish school and in-service on May 31. I worry that all that free time will lead to my thinking constantly about the adoption and that I'll just go nuts turning it over and over in my mind.

I hope to receive the email that my visa is ready sometime before August 15. My deepest hope is that it will happen in June. Until then, I'll just keep plugging along, waking up and jumping onto email as fast as I can...
